  • Began in NFL coaching career as wide receivers coach for San Francisco (1977).
  • Raye’s NFL pupils include the likes of Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee RB Eric Dickerson, as well as Class of 2003 Hall of Fame Marcus Allen, as well as Pro Bowl RBs James Wilder and Kimble Anders, Vernon Davis, Curtis Martin, Tony Gonzales and Tony Richardson.
  • Has served as an NFL offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots Tampa Bay Buccaneers and most recently the San Francisco 49ers.
  • As Rams offensive coordinator in ’84, oversaw an offense that ranked second in the NFL in rushing offense. That offense was headlined by ’99 Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Eric Dickerson, who became the second player in NFL history to record a 2,000-yard rushing season, accumulating an NFL-record 2,105 rushing yards that year.
  • His Son – Jimmy Raye, III – was a former WR at San Diego State (1988-90) and currently serves as the Director of College Scouting for the San Diego Chargers.
  • His Daughter – Robin Alston – resides in Sugar Land, Texas with 2 children; Derrick Samuel and Avery Catherine and Husband Derrick, who plays Professional Basketball in Europe.
